April 22, 1930 - August 13, 2020
Patricia Winsor Bennett

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother passed away on August 13th, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

Patricia was born on April 22, 1930 in Logan, Utah to Beatrice Snow and Luther Murkins Winsor. They later moved to Salt Lake City where the family attended the University Ward, of which, Elder LeGrande Richards was the bishop at the time.

Patricia attended the William Stewart School on the University of Utah Campus, and later attended South High School, graduating in 1947. At the age of 17, she went to BYU and then transferred to the U of U where she studied Home Economics.

Pat met her husband, Marshall Gordon Bennett, due to her friendship with his two sisters. He had just returned from his mission in August of 1949, and they were married in the Salt Lake temple by Elder Spencer W. Kimball the following year, in June of 1950.  After their marriage, they both continued their studies at the U of U.

Soon, Marshall was called back into the Air Force because of the Korean War. They were first stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi then Albuquerque, New Mexico and then on to France for 4 years, before returning to the United States at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois.  When Marsh retired from the Air Force they returned to Utah where they lived in Hunter for almost 50 years.

After they raised their family they became Missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in the Tahiti Papeete Temple in 1986 for 18 months. Pat learned to love the Tahitian people along with the food during their time in the South Pacific. They later served as temple workers in the Jordan River Temple.

Patricia was a devoted wife and mother during her 90 years on earth.  She loved making quilts, knitting, crocheting Afghans, gardening, tole painting, family history and baking.  She loved learning and teaching about good health habits.  She learned to speak French while living in France and some Tahitian during her time in Tahiti.

Patricia also served in leadership capacities in the Church, accepting callings in the Relief Society, Young Women’s and the Primary Organization in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Her greatest joy was her family. Her message to them as she was departing was that she wanted them to know that she loved each and every one of them and that she will be watching over them.

Pat is survived by her six children, Kathleen Colonna, Laura(Jeffry) Harland, Gordon(Rozaria) Bennett, Teresa(John) Hughes, Bruce Bennett and Chris(Georgette) Bennett; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and brother-in-law, David Bennett.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and granddaughter, Gusty June Colonna. She has gone on to be with her beloved Marshall, who passed away on November 28, 2010. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends alike.

The family expresses deepest thanks to all of Patricia’s loving caregivers Bridgette, Natalie, Cassidy and Ruth at Intermountain hospice.
