A Legacy of Brilliance, Creativity, and Generosity

John, aged 82, passed away peacefully at his home on March 4th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 20th, 1941, in San Francisco to Francis Dehlin and Vera Haslam Hampshire, John's life was a testament to his unique blend of brilliance, creativity, wit, humor, and unwavering commitment to his family and others.

A proud alumnus of Highland High School, John's academic journey led him to the University of Utah to study architecture. His passion for design took him to apprentice at Edwards and Daniels in Salt Lake City, laying the groundwork for a distinguished career in development and construction.

John's professional life was marked by his roles as V.P. of Development for Price Industries and Co-founder of Machan Hampshire Properties. His visionary projects, including regional shopping centers, office buildings, and residential complexes across Utah, Nevada, and Arizona, have left an indelible mark on the landscape and communities they serve. As the Owner of Sentry Capital Mortgage, he extended his expertise and kindness nationwide, proudly working alongside his sons, Jono and Christian, whom he affectionately referred to as "his guys."

In 1973, John married his soulmate, Andrea Jackson, embarking on a journey of love and partnership that brought their two sons into the world. Together, they created a home on the Millcreek stream that was nothing short of magical, embodying John's belief in thoughtfulness and the importance of creating spaces that nurture and inspire.

John's zest for life was evident in his love for golf, travel, and music, with Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson holding special places in his heart. Known for his infectious smirk and love for Porsche 911s, he lived life on his terms, leaving behind memories filled with laughter and joy.

He leaves a legacy through his wife, Andrea; his sons, Jonothan (Jill) and Christian (Amber); his cherished grandchildren, Lucas, Kingston, Ella, Mazie, and Ava; and his brother Jim (Marilyn) and family. Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Vera Hampshire, John's memory will forever be a beacon of inspiration and love.

The Hampshire family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Valeo hospice team for their compassionate care. In honor of John's generous spirit, we encourage an unexpected act of kindness in his name, continuing his legacy of making the world a better place.
