Kathleen Portsche Godbe

May 27, 1927 - March 20, 2024

Kathleen Portsche Godbe “got on the bus” on March 20, 2024. Kathleen was born in Kramer, Nebraska on May 27, 1927 to William and Carolyn Steuer Portsche. When she was eleven years old, the family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she attended school and graduated from South High. She married Murray Charles Godbe III in March of 1947; they later divorced. They had three children—Stephen Godbe, Susan (Dan) Rawson, Cynthia (Bim) Oliver—and four grandchildren Matthew (Erin Gavin) Oliver, Rachel Havekost, William Godbe, and Emily Rawson—all of whom survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Phyllis (Harold) Hawkes, Loralee (Harold) Heinz, and brother Vernon (Gretchen) Portsche. Kathleen achieved a successful professional career, notably at Flintkote Company where she worked her way up to a management position in a “man’s world.” After returning to Salt Lake City, she volunteered at St. Mark’s Hospital, an activity and service she enjoyed immensely.

A Celebration of Life will be on April 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stark’s Funeral Parlor, 3561 South 900 East, Millcreek, Utah. Guests are encouraged to use parking and entrance located on the north side of the building. Family and friends may gather here to reminisce, cry, laugh, but most importantly to give support and solace to her children and grandchildren.

Kathleen and her family would like to thank her caregivers Kalia Gallagher and Jamiee Argyle and Aspen Ridge Home Health and Hospice. Donations in Kathleen’s memory can be made to a charity of your choice.
