Victor Lynn Martinez (Rezee)

March 2, 1973 - March 12, 2020

Victor Lynn Martinez (Rezee) has been called home ten days after his 47th birthday on Thursday March 12, 2020. He is the second child of Victor and Linda Martinez and is survived by his one and only handsome son Diego Jacob Martinez whom he absolutely adored! Siblings; Yvonne, Delfina/Ray Chavez, John T., and Bob/Chantal (Ruiz). Three beautiful nieces; Adonia, Gianna, and Amaree Martinez. Three handsome, well behaved and smart nephews; Alejandro Curiel, Ray Ray, and Xavier Chavez.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Joe & Sally Herrera, Vincent Martinez, Grace Brimhall, His Padrino Richard Herrera, Uncle Bob Martinez, Cousins Travis Martinez, Caleb Herrera and two of his lifelong friends whom he considered his brothers Lucius Valencia and Cory Burt.

Victor was always the life of the party whether he was with his many friends or at a family function, and he was most definitely a night owl. He loved his large family deeply and was a protector of his siblings and son. He often expressed to those close to him how proud he was of the incredible young man that his son Diego has become. He was always good for some laughs and he was the definition of a great and true friend! Victor shared a lifelong love of the Denver Broncos with his father Victor Sr. and both brothers John and Bob, he then passed this love of the team onto his son Diego. Within the last 10 years or so, Victor also developed an affinity for NASCAR and would spend countless hours watching his favorite drivers and teams compete. He absolutely loved music and would often text people out of the blue to say “check this out” to share a new song he had found or an old jam he had stumbled across from way back. Victor would also often times send people a funny video or clip and as you were either laughing uncontrollably out loud or rolling your eyes at how ridiculous the video or clip might be; if you were ever lucky enough to have received one of these texts from him, then you know that it would always brighten your day and you would always know that at that moment in time he was thinking of “YOU”……He will be missed!

Victor was very fortunate to be part of a very tight knit group of incredibly close friends whom he considered his brothers and they were nothing short of his 2nd and extended family, you know who you are, and We “THANK YOU” for being such an amazing part of Victor’s life.

Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances surrounding the Covid – 19 epidemic and the restrictions imposed by the Catholic Church. The Family has had to make some slightly unusual arrangements regarding the services to lay Victor to rest. In order to accommodate the large volume of family and friends wishing to pay their respects. There will be an open casket viewing at Starks Funeral Parlor, located at 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City Utah, 84106 on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, where anyone who wishes to attend can come to pay their respects. There will then be limited attendance family only Mass on Wednesday, March 18, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7405 South Redwood Road. This service will be limited to 100 people by order of the Bishop of Utah in order to limit exposure to the Priest and Staff of the church.

The Villalobos/Valencia family have graciously offered to host a luncheon that was supposed to follow the Mass, where anyone could come help us Celebrate the life of Victor and share memories and stories, but unfortunately due to the current health crisis we are experiencing we will have to postpone this event until further notice. This event will be scheduled for the first feasible time available following the containment of this health concern.

We will take our Beloved Victor (Rezee) to his final resting place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Avenue and T Street in a graveside ceremony.  DUE TO EVENTS THE GRAVESIDE WILL BE POSTPONED.  Please check back at this website for up to the minute information.
